Difference between Ruga and Nappa leather
There are numerous different types of leathers used in the creation of luxury bags, but both Ruga and Nappa are actually types of finishes to the top-grain leather used in the making of handbags and other leather products. Top-grain leather is the highest quality leather you can buy, with minimal marks and no remaining hair on it, like suede has. Nappa is a leather finish known for the subtle tanned color and smooth to the touch feel, it can be made from many types of animals skins. Ruga is a leather finish, often used with calf leather like on our 'La Doce Vita' bag, it is incredibly soft, has a subtle sheen to it and is tanned using organic vegetable dyes. Both the Ruga and Nappa leather finishes smooth out the leather so it doesn't have a pebbled surface or any visible flaws.
