Product care

How Should I care for my Selleria Veneta bag?

For leather: for light cleaning, we recommend washing your bag with a cloth, wet with warm water. You can also spot clean your Selleria Veneta handbag with a leather cleaner, which can be purchased at a drug store or cobbler. Be sure to test products before applying to the whole bag. Please avoid using wipes that have chemicals in them (such as baby wipes or Clorox wipes) as this will ruin the leather. If you’d rather leave it to the professionals, a cobbler or other leather professional can deep clean your bag.

For suede: suede must be treated by a leather professional for all cleaning. To preserve the quality and beauty of the Italian suede, we recommend:

  • Keeping the product in its dust bag when not in use
  • Avoiding contact of light suede with dark clothing and vice versa to reduce possibility of color transfer
  • Avoiding contact of suede with liquid, water, alcohol or oils
  • Avoiding exposure to direct sunlight
  • Avoiding contact with rough or abrasive surfaces

What Is The Leather Like?

We currently carry five full-grain Italian leathers that are scratch- and water-resistant. Safiano leather has a supple finish, and is tumbled at the tannery, giving a high-quality, long-lasting durable result. The classic Calf leather is a treated leather that gets its finish from the texture pressed on it by a machine, giving this leather a long-grain finish.
Nappa leather has a buttery finish with an even surface texture. This skin is incredibly soft to the touch and a sleek alternative to the textured leathers above. The embossed leather that mimics the texture and color variation and three dimensional effect, so every bag is unique.
Crocodile leather is naturally very strong. To clean it, you want to use a clean, white cotton rag damped with warm water. Gently wipe it over the surface of the crocodile skin until the entire surface of the skin is cleaned. Then, dry off as much as you can with another dry cloth, and leave the rest to dry in your cool, dry indoor place away from sunlight and direct heat.
To clean Python leather use a soft, damp cloth to wipe it down. If a stain exists, soak your cloth in a small amount of water and dishwashing liquid and carefully blot at the stain to remove it.
